I’m working on the final chapters of the sequel to Prelude to Ascension (title to be announced). It’s been quite a road. While writing this book I’ve felt as though my own life has been rewritten. Since the loss of my wife, Virginia, the biggest challenge hasn’t been in embracing my new life but conjuring the will to embrace it … a different life that I didn’t ask for. The writing has helped. New, wonderful people I’ve met along the way have also helped.

But, enough of that.

I’m very excited about the next book. I’ll admit it was a little ambitious for me. I knew what I wanted it to be, but at times, had doubts that I’d be able to get there. I’m feeling much better about it now. I imagine the story as a fabric of subplots that I’m in the throes of weaving together. I still have a ways to go - apologies for that - and I clearly have room for improvement when it comes to writing speed, but I’m getting there.

Very best,

-Brent

  4. Hi, this is Andy Upshaw in Spring, Texas. I'm very sorry to hear of your wife's passing. My wife and I have been together 44yrs now. I cannot imagine such a loss. I bought Prelude to ascension shortly after it became available on Kindle. Have been looking forward to the next installment ever since. I hope you have a good day sir.

  7. I just finish listening to your audiobook and I was blown away! I loved it so much, I just had to know when the next will be released. Upon reading about your wife, I understand the delay, no one can blame you, healing has no timeframe.

I can say your book has been the best sci-fi I have read possibly ever! I too am an astronomy junkie.

  10. I can’t wait. I consume a lot of audio books because my work affords me long periods to listen to books. I can go through as many as three or four a week. While I have some favorite authors, I have never been so anxious for a follow-up book to be published. I’ve found few authors that craft stories with the intelligence and thoughtfulness as Mr. Clay. I can’t wait to read more about humanity’s ascension.
